Mr. Frog Goes For a Ride

"Mr. Frog"
Acrylic on canvas, 16"w x 20"h
No prints available -- Commissioned

I always loved drawing turtles and frogs in high school, so when I was asked to do a piece "turtle and frog themed" for my nephew's nursery I was thrilled!  I pulled out my signature skinny frog sketches from the '90's, scribbled around with them a bit, and re-invented him with more character...and his dear friend, Mr. Turtle.  =]  Illustration certainly isn't my strength, but this piece reminded me of how much fun I used to have in putting together a simple doodle, and inventing an unique character to call my own...if only I had the time to doodle more often... =]

I am so excited to share this piece.  It is one of my most recent, telling a story of shame, healing, and self-love...a woman's journey.

Email address

Whoopsies...who gave you the wrong e-mail address??!  I did.  As I was clueless-ly under the assumption that no one was trying to contact me, I may have been missing out on some fun, important emails from you...(for sure, one from my mom)!  But with much thanks to the curiousity of my husband, the mistake has been corrected!  In case you have attempted to contact me via the email address located on the "About Me" page, it has not been received.

My address is gardencandy@gmail.com (with no hyphen, like I may have earlier implied...) and the correction has been made to the page.  =]

Thank you.

Graceful Presence

"Graceful Presence"
Acrylic on canvas, 16"w x 20"h x1"d

This could just be my favorite, inspired by a conversation I had with a dear friend of mine, an inquisitive spirit--always challenging, questioning, observing--a few of the many reasons I love her!  It was during this particular conversation that I was the one being challenged; but of course I sat speechless on the topic, unable to put words to tongue.  I could only pick up my brush to portray what I feel....

Birch In Blue

"Birch in Blue"
Acrylic on canvas, 16" x 20"

The simplicity of the birch tree, yet each complexly detailed.  Each tree having it's own perspective within the forest.   Closely seeded, yet every tree tells a story different from the next, all uniquely beautiful.  Community.

Alvena Sky

Acrylic on canvas, 14" x 18"

Well, what better place to start then with my very first canvas. Here is the story:

It was our first year together in our tiny house nestled in the boonies of rural Saskatchewan.  A 45min commute to work, in a community of retirees who mostly kept to themselves (aside from the agitated biker after a slight misunderstanding, but that's another story).
